The house - 'Parklea'

Architect designed and purpose built. Officially opened in October 1991. Accommodation for ten residents, each with their own room which they individually furnish. Meals are provided by the housekeeper and her staff.
Laundry facilities are available. There is provision for making light snacks.
'Parklea' is centrally located in Lockerbie, just off the High Street. In close proximity - the medical centre, the health centre, library, post office and shops, including a chemist and a Safeway store.

The town of Lockerbie

Population some 4500. Sited in rural mid Annandale in the county of Dumfries.
Rail links - the railway station is on the main west coast line with direct connections to Glasgow, Edinburgh and London.
Road links - easy connection to the M74 motorway. By road, Dumfries is twelve miles distant and Carlisle twenty three miles. Regular bus services are in operation.

The town's amenities
Churches - the Church of Scotland, Episcopal Church and Roman Catholic Church are represented.
Health - four doctors serve the town's medical centre. The health centre has a chiropody service. Principal hospital is the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary in Dumfries.
Accommodation - there are a number of well established hotels and guest houses.
Education - Lockerbie Academy provides a wide range of adult education classes.
Entertainment - the town has a cinema and small ameteur theatre. Additionally, there are a number of active social clubs catering for a variety of interests.
Sport - sports clubs include golf, bowling and squash. The well known South of Scotland Ice Rink is located in the town.
