to the Abbeyfield Helensburgh Society

WHERE WE ARE

Our house is situated near to the centre of Helensburgh, which is an attractive seaside town about twenty miles Northwest of Glasgow and only a few miles from Loch Lomond. The House is within walking distance of good shops, several churches, the public library and the seafront. There is a bus stop outside the house.

ACCOMMODATION

There are nine rooms all with en suite facilities (shower, wash hand basin and toilet). There is also a suite of rooms (sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, shower room and small kitchenette area). Residents furnish their rooms with their own possessions (curtains and carpets can be provided if desired).
Public rooms include a sitting room with TV, a dining room where residents have lunch and supper together (cooked and served by the resident housekeeper), a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer, bathroom, and two small kitchenettes where residents can prepare breakfast, hot drinks etc.
There is a two person lift within the house, and a very attractive garden at the rear of the property.

RESIDENTS

Our residents are encouraged to live independent lives, coming and going as they please, but the resident housekeeper, backed by a committee of volunteers, is there for help and advice when needed.
There are no restrictions on age. At present most of our residents have reached the age of 75 years or over.
Resdients are free to welcome friends, and a friendly atmosphere within the house gives residents a real sense of wellbeing and security.
Groups of residents have gone on holiday together, and many take part in social activities within the town.
