WHERE WE ARE
At present there are three Abbeyfield houses in Glasgow
- one in Pollockshields, one in Jordanhill and one
in Springburn, which is a registered care home catering
for very frail older people.
The others are are 'supportive' houses that suit older
people who do not require nursing care.
WHO RUNS ABBEYFIELD GLASGOW?
Each House is run by a house committee of volunteers
who offer support and friendship to the residents.
There is an executive committee that is mainly responsible
for the maintenance of the houses.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
As Abbeyfield is managed by volunteers, charges which
are all-inclusive, are comparatively low. At present
the average weekly charge throughout our very sheltered
houses in Glasgow is about £180. For those who
qualify, Housing and other Benefits make Abbeyfield
affordable to all.
WHAT WE OFFER
Abbeyfield Glasgow offers homes within homes for the
frail or older person who no longer wishes, or is
able, to live alone, but rather seeks companionship
and an independent lifestyle within a secure and caring
environment.
WHAT WE NEED
The Society needs volunteers who can give a little
of their time and talents to help the frail and older
residents. The Society also relies on charitable donations
to continue its work and to keep the costs to residents
affordable.
