Kirklands
Our house, 'Kirklands', of Station
Road, Dunbar, is a private residence offering care
and companionship with independence and dignity for
older people.
The Dunbar Society was formed in 1966 with the assistance
of Dunbar Rotary Club which remains very active in
the support and management of the house.
For over 30 years 'Kirklands' has provided a permanent
home for seven older residents who are physically
well but in need of companionship and support.
The house is situated in Dunbar town centre within
easy walking distance of the High Street shops, post
office and banks, the railway station and bus stops.
Each resident has a self furnished private bed-sitting
room with en suite facilities and the use of a shared
dining room, lounge and laundry. Residents are asked
to provide their own breakfast but lunch and dinner
are prepared daily by a live-in housekeeper who also
provides many other services.
A small voluntary committee looks after repairs and
maintenance of the house. Members of the committee
make regular visits to the house to deal with any
problems.
