The Abbeyfield Dalkeith Society was
formed in 1965 and in May 1967 Abbeyfield House was
purchased. In 1997 a total upgrading was completed
to provide en suite facilities to all residents rooms,
level access showers and baths in bathrooms. The current
weekly charge is £184.62.
Abbeyfield House provides very
sheltered housing within a family style house
for older people who no longer wish or are unable
to live alone. Food, heat and light are included in
the rent which is very reasonable, but there is no
nursing care. There is accommodation for 6 residents
who can enjoy an independent life style within a secure
and caring environment. It offers:
- Private self furnished bed sitting
rooms with en suite facilities
- Resident Housekeeping staff who
provide two meals a day
- Laundry facilities, Communal dining
room and conservatory
Dalkeith is 7 miles from Edinburgh
and there is a very good bus service. Shops, buses
and parks are within easy reach of Abbeyfield House.
