The Abbeyfield House at 72 High Street
in Biggar has been providing comfort and companionship
for its residents over the last decade.
The house is based in and around a substantial building
in the centre of this attractive and historic little
town, and is conveniently located for shops and other
amenities. Although the original house is two storeys,
in fact the residents' rooms are all situated at ground
floor level, mostly in a modern extension which has
been built on at the rear. The rooms are comfortable,
equipped with en suite facilities, and are furnished
to the taste of the occupants with their own belongings.
The nine residents are a lively and hospitable group
who enjoy the companionship of the dining room and
lounge as well as the privacy of their own quarters
where they can also entertain friends and family.
Their needs are tended to by a resident housekeeper
and her staff. Day to day matters affecting the running
of the building and the welfare of its residents are
the responsibility of a House Committee composed of
volunteers.
Anyone interested in making a visit to the House for
the purpose of assessing its suitability for themselves
